May 30, 2015

We had another great week at the Elementary School! We enjoyed the School Day Games, had a special presentation brought to us by the PTO, opened our "magical" VIP Museum, and rounded out our week with another spectacular Spring Carnival!

School Day Games
This past Wednesday, students across the district gathered at Douglas High School for the annual School Day Games. Our student athletes were phenomenal in all of their events! This year's shirts were designed by our very own Jack G! Way to go Jack!

Historical Women Visit Douglas Elementary
This week actress Sheryl Faye brought three historical women to life for our students. Second graders got to meet Eleanor Roosevelt, third and fourth graders met Clara Barton, and fifth graders met Helen Keller. In these stunning performances, Sheryl used audio, visuals, costume changes and superb acting to "introduce" our students to these famous women from history. Thanks to the PTO for bringing Sheryl to us again this year! The students and teachers always enjoy her performances!

Noon at the Museum with Third Grade
Our VIP Museum opened once again this past Friday with countless numbers of priceless exhibits. Our "exhibits" worked hard preparing over the last several months. Their hard work paid off as our museum guests thoroughly enjoyed their visit and learned all about our many exhibits! A job well done by our third grade students, teachers, and paraprofessionals!

PTO Spring Carnival
Saturday brought great weather and another successful PTO Spring Carnival! Food, games, rides, inflatables, and a dunk tank made for an AWESOME day! Thanks to the MANY volunteers as well as those that donated money and/or goods for this year's carnival! Without this support the carnival could not take place!
