Recess Weather Reminder
As the crisp fall weather continues to creep in, please send students to school with appropriate clothing for recess. We will continue to be outside for recess each day as long as the temperature is above 25 degrees and it isn't raining. At this point, students should have a jacket for recess each day. Also, with the colder weather occurring, shorts will not be allowed at recess. Pants should be worn to school or brought to change into for recess. Students not dressed appropriately for the weather, will spend their recess indoors.
Third Grade is S.A.F.E.
Lt. James Kaufman of the Douglas Fire Department is this year's S.A.F.E. instructor. He will be visiting our third graders on a monthly basis throughout the year. Student Awareness of Fire Education (S.A.F.E.) is a grant program to local fire departments that puts trained firefighter-educators in classrooms to conduct fire safety education in grades Pre-K through 12. The primary mission of S.A.F.E. is to teach children key behaviors so they can prevent fires, survive those that do occur, and respond correctly to emergencies. We look forward to working with Lt. Kaufman this year!

Thanks also go out to the 25 trunks that came and decorated their car and handed out candy to the HUNDREDS of costumed children!
