Mock Presidential Election
As the country prepared for the 2016 Presidential Election on November 8, we held out very own mock election sponsored by the JFK Library & Museum. Here are both the DES results and the nationwide results:

Scarecrows, Veterans, and Eagles....Oh My!
Second graders have been busy! Currently on display are their scarecrow projects, Veterans Day activity, and bald eagle writing!
Great Grade 3 Writers
Mrs. Hippert's class did some writing and illustrating about castles and Mrs. Jost's class wrote some autumn poetry.
Fourth Grade Field Trip Recollections
Mrs. Tedisky's class summarized their recent field trip to the Tsongas Industrial Center and wrote about the highlights of their day.
Mrs. Dagenais's and Mrs. Tedisky's class were practicing multiplication by doing some fun axtivities this week. Some groups of students were playing a multiplication math fact game while other pairs of students were playing tic-tac-toe using multiplication!
Summer Reading Qulits
Fifth graders have written summaries and assembled their summer reading quilts. They look awesome!
You may remember Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally from when you were a student trying to learn the order of operations. Our fifth grade students came up with their own mnemonic devices for PEMDAS.
November's Author Spotlight
This month we focus on Joanna Cole. Best known for her Magic School Bus series, Cole has written countless books that our students adore!
Mrs. Stewart spent time working with students to write some wonderful autumn haikus.
Third grade students wrapped up their study of the Wampanoags by creating wetus and longhouses.
Scooter Tag Fun!
Mrs. Dupre's class earned some scooter tag time in the gym on Friday! I joined in for a few minutes of the fun!
Mr. Scafidi's lessons have led to some amazing creations by our students! Second and third graders worked on self portraits and drew themselves as either LEGO or minion superheroes. second graders also used craypas and designed leaves using warm and cool colors. Third graders also designed leaves with patterns and observed crayon resistance to water colors.
As a follow-up to the Pop Influences posted previously, students in Mr. Rheaume's classes used these music icons to write their own songs as a class.
